Google Poll Shows Most Webmasters Go Responsive With Mobile Configuration

Google's Webmaster team on Google+
posted a poll asking which configuration are you using for your mobile
friendly web site? Is it responsive, dynamic serving, separate desktop
and mobile URLs or are you not mobile friendly yet?

The poll has
over 600 responses thus far, and 82% of those responses say they went
responsive design with their mobile friendly configuration. Only 7%
said they are not mobile friendly yet, 6% said they use separate URLs
and 4% said they do dynamic serving (this site is part of the 4% for
now).

Here are the poll results as of now:

I
bet this is far from what the web looks like and I'd love for Google to
share stats on the whole web. I bet it is more like 80% of the web
pages on the internet are not mobile friendly.

In any event, those webmasters following Google Webmaster on Google+ are going responsive for the most part.

CSS Positioning With Google In 2015

SEOs have been using CSS positioning for years and years
as a way to get the more important content positioned in the source
code above the more boiler plate content, such as headers, navigation
and so on.

But now with the way Google fully renders your final web page, does it matter. If Google sees and renders
your header and footer and boilerplate content on your site, do you
need to bother to put your primary content for the page higher in your
source code?

A WebmasterWorld thread asks this specific question.

The
truth is, I don't think CSS positioning did much for the typical web
page. Even before Google fully rendered the final page, it still was
able to figure out your site and page structure from your HTML source
code for the most part. In any event, does this mean that it is less
important to do CSS positioning?

What are your thoughts?
